Nigeria's Democracy Day is a celebration to commemorate the restoration of democracy in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
                           Hope for all

This used to be celebrated on May 29th of every year since the inception of democratic rule in 1999.  However, in 2018 President Mohammadu Buhari declared June 12 to be a new Democracy Day to commemorate the democratic election of MKO Abiola on June 12, 1993, in what has been adjudged to be Nigeria's freest and fairest elections. It was, however, canceled by the Ibrahim Babangida Junta. MKO Abiola was later detained after he declared himself the president.

How much has changed since democracy if you ask me?

Democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.

Yourdictionary.com defines democracy as a form of government in which the common people hold political power and can rule either directly or through elected representatives.

Nigeria has improved since democracy but we are free and yet, not free.

We walk on the road and still have to look over our shoulders for fear of being nabbed by gboomogboomo ( kidnappers).

Our homes are not safe. We sleep every night with one eye open and a cutlass under your pillow, one bang on the door, we swing into action and sleep is not even an issue anymore. Can you imagine that?

Not even to begin to think about what our females and males have to go through just because someone somewhere can not tame their sexual urge.
                           Say no to rape

When it is time for another round of choosing who should truly come to stand and fight for us, all we are after is that man or woman who has something to give by the time they dip hand inside their big bags.

Guess what? We take it, and the circle continues
Because we are hungry, I am too.
and man must wack.

Which way forward?

Happy Democracy Day NIGERIA
