WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP? I too can

Welcome to a new week Tribe!

Dear Seme Woman, I am dedicating this to us all

Let me start by wishing you a Happy International Women's Day celebration.

You are the real MVPs.

As the theme of this year's celebration implies "Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.

We salute our frontline workers and every woman out there who is working effortlessly to secure our world against COVID-19. Well done girl!

Women in leadership have been a topic going on for too long now. Women are underrepresented at all levels of decision-making (even in families) worldwide. Research has it that women serve as Head of State or government in only 22 countries, and 199 countries ( including our dear Nigeria) have never had a woman in leadership.

Mummy Dearest, my first Teacher and Leader. Educationist par excellence!

This year's International Women's Day celebration is also charged to #ChoosetoChallenge, and contrary to what the world used to see women as, women are gradually riding up and taking their position in power and governance.

vice president Kamala Harris, the first Female Vice president of the United State. Can you beat that!

Dear men, we do not have a penis as you do. We are not challenging or in a competition to take over your gender (God forbid). We are only competing for our own SPACE, to dream and achieve just like you do.

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former Finance Minister and the first woman and African to be appointed as Director-General of the World Trade Organization.
And you want to stop dreaming?

Gone are the days when women, especially African women are told that their pace is only in the kitchen. Now the world says "dear to seem, girl! Because your dreams are As valid as a man's own".

Temitope Omotolani, the new CEO of Crowdyvest.
Appointment still as fresh as Sunday bread, lol. I tap in o!

I do not know where or how this narrative started but I do know how it is going to end.

It will only end when we choose to rise and live just as all humans should.

I always cling in my spirit when I hear people say a woman shouldn't dream too much. In their world "your husband and children should be enough for you". Like whatever happened to those childhood dreams while she was growing up. Nobody ever asks. All you hear them ask is "how far with HUSBAND" and when she finally gets married, "do you have any children yet?"

Dear Woman, may I remind you that having a husband and a child /children doesn't define you.

Purpose first before all others.

And before you want to argue about how God made you (EVE)  for Adam, please note that there was actual WORK to be done in the garden of Eden. So find your purpose and get to work.

These days people just want to keep women under wrap, away from achieving their dreams disguising with the "Proverbs 31 woman". Forgetting that it was the Proverbs 31 woman who made her husband known in the first place.

"Her husband is known in the city's gates when he sits among the elders of the land".
Proverbs 31:23 AMP

Just stop it

Please stop

Stop molding women into what they don't want to be.

Let them do what comes naturally

Dear woman,

You must not fit in.

You are right if you don't feel like staying at home all day watching your man and babies grow. You are right if your place is out there saving the world.

Girl! It is not selfish to know you deserve better.

Go fly a plane if you like, because you too can.

You are beautiful,

Bold,

And MADE FOR MORE.

Happy International Women's Day.

  1. Yes, I can!
    Thank you for this reminder.
Like I have stated clearly from the beginning of this day, I am what I want to be. The choice lies with me. I refused to be pressured by anyone, after all, it's my life.

  2. Women need to build up their character and professional self to make their impart in a Post-Covid 19 world.

They're needed everywhere starting with the family.
