Sustainability In Business. Business And Tech #WinterABC2021

Image
Hey Tribe! This could be your Monday Morning Motivation (I bet you haven't read that here for a while now). Anyways, it is week three in the Afrobloggers Community, and it's Business and Tech o clock. When you hear business the first thing that comes to mind is buying and selling but business goes beyond just trade. The Oxford dictionary defines business as “A person’s regular occupation, profession, or trade.” This means your source of income is your business, whether you are selling goods or offering services. So long as it solves a problem, meets the consumer's needs and serves its purpose.  Some people say they are not cut out for the stress of doing business so they face only the “white collar” jobs. I am one of those people.  Ok, I want to do business, like the real trade of selling and buying but again I don't. Maybe it is because of the much stress involved but tell me one completely stress-free venture. I have tried my hands in quite a few businesses from sell

Advocacy For Women

“He tortured me so badly. It was so terrible that he excommunicated me from my family. Nobody must visit me, and he wasn't living with us. He already had another wife outside yet his coming once in a while was hell. He would beat me whenever he was around”. I didn't leave. I couldn't leave because of the threats. He said he would kill me or take the children away if I tried to leave him. I started praying for God to make a way for me. He left one day and never came back”

Blogging Lessons 101 From My Experience

Image
Hey Tribe! TGIF! And also the last day for the #WinterABC Creatives week.  Thank you all for being with me on this journey. We have four more weeks to go, let's keep moving. So, I've been getting a lot of feedback from the Tribe, mostly questions on how I started blogging. Here are a few lessons for you. Well, from my experience point of view. Before the idea of blogging came along, I used to randomly share stories and rants on social media. Then came the lockdown and the perfect timing. Here are a few things I've Learnt along the journey. 1. Have a message This is the most important part of starting a blog or any course whatsoever. For me, it was a vision God gave, to share stories and life experiences. Many people go through things in life, especially Christians. It's a clear call to talk about your pain without holding back.  Having a message means creating a nitch for yourself. That way, you could always go back to the plan even when you stray. 2. Create contents

My Journey. From The Beginning!

“You can choose between being a mechanic or a bricklayer (mason) since you don't want to go to school again.” “Daddy, I am a girl. I can not do such tedious work. I can only do tailor or saloon work”. “No o, that will not happen in this house. If you are bold enough to quit school because you want to be stupid, then you should be strong enough to do any task that comes your way too”. It is either mechanic, bricklayer, or nothing in this house and that is final. That was one of the many unending conversations between a father and her strong headed daughter, and this wasn't the first time. “I bind the two of you in Jesus name” And that was the voice of her ever dramatic Mummy Dearest coming in from the bedroom “There's nothing to bind here Inye Joshua (Mama Joshua), this girl has chosen her path in life and I will gladly support her course” *** I had just gotten admission into the University and that was the most horrible time for a 16 years old girl like me. *I've had wo

On Being A Creative

Image
CREATIVES I didn't know I was one until shortly after I started this blog a year ago.  Yes, you read that correctly! even with my Bachelor's Degree in Theatre and Media Arts, I never considered myself as a Creative.  Why? you may want to ask. Well, that's because I wasn't practicing and therefore didn't see the need to bestow myself with such a great title. The dictionary meaning of the word Creative is “relating to or involving the use of the imagination or original ideas to create something" and as a noun, a Creative is a “Person whose job involves creative work”. Now, are there some selected groups of people who can only be creatives? The answer to that question is NO, an emphatic NO for that matter.  The truth is God is the only source of ideas, talent, and any form of creativity you can ever think of or imagine. No one has a monopoly on talent, ideas, and creativity. The only difference between people whom you consider as creatives and those who are not is

WinterABC2021 Festival. Doing It Afraid!

Image
Today is the first day of June and we should be saying “happy new month”. It is also the official kick off of the #Afrobloggers #WinterABC2021 festival.  In case you are wondering what this is all about, the #WinterABC2021 festival is a writer initiative organized by the Afrobloggers Community. This is a competition done every year in June. The aim is to celebrate African creativity, through exchanging unique experiences and conversations that bloggers have to share on their various blogs for the next 22 days, and yours truly has decided to hop on the bandwagon. So help me God.  So in the coming days, we are expected to post various articles on selected themes for each week. #WinterABC2021 breakdown  The first week is themed “creatives week”. I will be sharing how I started, my experience of being creative, and the journey so far.  For “advocacy week”, you all already know I am the defender of the universe! I will be sharing on issues that bother our society and domestic violence and g

PRESSING TOWARDS THE GOAL

It's a new week and the last week in May, and guess what? Drum rolllllllllllllll it's our anniversary week! Oh yes! I am super excited. Finally, the dream came to pass. Oh, it's no longer a dream but a reality. First I was worried if I would ever be able to push the publish button for the first blog post but I did (after much threat from over concerned citizens of the Seme Tribe of course), then came the fear of  “will this even last at all (don't blame me, I have the highest world record of too many abandoned projects). After almost 365 days, here we are still standing strong. Since May the 26th is just around the corner, we might as well do the anniversary post today. Just kidding! We will still have our anniversary post and from you all. Please keep sending in your feedback to semesnookblog@gmail.com. So as we count down, I am encouraged, not just for The Tribe but for every other thing and I want you to be too.  Life is a journey and until you get to your destinatio

MAY Purpose Find You

Image
May is here!!!  Welcome to a new week Tribe! Or should I say Happy New Month Tribe! Or better still, this could be your Monday Morning Motivation! How about we add all three and say Happy New Month Tribe! Welcome to a new week and your Monday Morning Motivation!!! I am particularly excited about the new month because The Tribe was birthed a year ago in May, so come the 26th of this month we will be a year old. We have so much to be thankful for.  Looking back to the day I finally summoned courage to push the " publish " button for the first post, and having you all here still standing with me is nothing short of a blessing.  I am thankful. I am thankful to God for the opportunity to be able to have a second chance to fulfill my purpose.  Purpose, according to the English dictionary is the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.  So yes, I am thankful To God for the opportunity to be able to have a second chance to fulfill my purpose in sha

Be Intentional. A Little Fun won't hurt

Hey Hey Hey! Happy New week Tribe! It's been a minute here I know, well Let's just say I've been having a hangover since our last blog post. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers for Matana and Matilda . So, how are you all doing? I trust you are well, and that life is happening in your favour? Well, even if it is not, you are alive and that is all that matters because "he that has life has hope".  I was going through my vision board recently to see how the year is going and also restrategize where there's need to, especially when my five years old asked what I wanted to become in the future when I grow up. That question was a good prompt or should I say a reminder to check and evaluate how well my baby steps or giant stride towards achieving my goals were going. Thankfully, there is progress, and that is all that matters. Still, in my conversations with the little madam, we were watching a children's program the other day and the narrator's n

On Relationships And Letting Go

Image
Happy New week Tribe! I trust the month is going on smoothly.  It is still our season of growth, and we are dancing through April as we stay through in the place of growth. Talking about growth, I've had the privilege of being nurtured and groomed with teachings and training by the most amazing humans and team ever. Most of these I refer to here are mostly on spiritual grounds, and this has been my most valuable tool for growth.  So recently, I got a shocker when some people pulled out of an association I belonged to. It was as if I was hit by a heavy-duty truck. Although not directly involved in the leadership myself, but just merely sitting to listen to their teaching and sharing life experiences in helping others grow was a blessing, and they, having to leave was a big blow.  Now, this got me thinking, why do people leave?  Ok, let me rephrase this, why do people leave their Christian associations? I don't mean leaving to go start a different ministry as a result of a divin

THERE WAS A REASON

Image
Happy Easter Tribe,  I hope your Easter celebration is going on well.  Yes, we are still celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and today being Easter Monday. The Easter season to me is the best time in a man's life, especially for a believer.  It is a time when you remember the love of God in its full form.  “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life".  John 3:16 (NLT) It is not enough to celebrate the death of Jesus only but to appropriate His resurrection to our salvation.  The death of Christ on the cross is an opportunity for a new life, hope, and change.  There was a reason why He had to come and for like He did, and the only reason was love. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."  Romans 5:8 (KJV) We must seize the moment and make the best of this season. That the death of Jesus will have m

I thought I would never come back

Hehehehe!  This is exactly how I came on The Seme Tribe today. Like, hello! Anybody home? Or have my village people closed down the Tribe? Lol, I am laughing so hard inside me as I type this. Here I am at midnight, lying on my bedroom floor almost in a ghost posture for the fear of waking up my two years old because I cannot afford to play the "midnight nanny" role tonight. No thank you! I choose the "floor" offer. Wondering why I am laughing?  It's been such a long time here, and I'm here asking myself, "who does that? Who leaves her Tribe and just disappears for so long without a word?". Well, only Seme can and only Seme does that. Lol Then, I open my draft to see if maybe I could Scribble something for the new month and my eyes caught the site impressions. Boy! You all have been here all along even while I was away. I mean my numbers greatly increased even without a new post. I don't know who you all are but I want to hug you and just whispe

WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP? I too can

Image
Welcome to a new week Tribe!  Dear Seme Woman, I am dedicating this to us all Let me start by wishing you a Happy International Women's Day celebration.  You are the real MVPs. As the theme of this year's celebration implies "Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world. We salute our frontline workers and every woman out there who is working effortlessly to secure our world against COVID-19. Well done girl! Women in leadership have been a topic going on for too long now. Women are underrepresented at all levels of decision-making (even in families) worldwide. Research has it that women serve as Head of State or government in only 22 countries, and 199 countries ( including our dear Nigeria) have never had a woman in leadership. Mummy Dearest, my first Teacher and Leader. Educationist par excellence! This year's International Women's Day celebration is also charged to #ChoosetoChallenge, and contrary to what the world used to see women as, wom

WORLD BOOK DAY... "Share a story".

Image
"I am a part of everything that I have read".   Theodore Roosevelt Today is World Book Day! March 4th of every year has been dedicated to celebrating literature and reading, encouraging children to develop their interest and love for books. This celebration is usually made fun for kids by encouraging them to dress up as their favorite literary character. Before you begin to say "this isn't for me but kids". No, reading is not meant for children alone. In short, it is an adult who will teach a child to read in the first place and it is in reading you get information to share and to teach others.  But how can you teach when you have nothing inside of you. Now the question is, are you reading?  I find this very funny, but almost everyone is guilty of this, myself inclusive. People have just chosen to become lazy in getting informed. Rather than reading to get information about a particular thing we would rather just follow whatever anyone is saying. Especially with

I AM NOT CRAZY I PROMISE. I am only wired differently.

Hey Tribe! A  very Happy New Month felicitation to you all (Please I just felt like speaking grammar). Lol Wow! March is here already. How is the year treating you so far?  Good? Fair? Or just there. Whatever your answer is. I hope you are taking your time to work on your set goals for the year. By the way, how far have you gone with executing the goals in your VISION BOARD for the year? Or you didn't know about it before now? well, now you do.  So get to work and go make one for yourself. Remember, those goals and visions won't come to being if you do not plan and take the necessary steps towards achieving them.  Apart from setting goals and mapping out plans to achieve them, another very important things to do is realizing who you are and knowing how your form (personality) works. That is knowing your personality traits. This will also help you to know how to manage people and your relationship with them better. I tell you a lot of unnecessary arguments and altercation can

ON BECOMING. ONE MORE TIRED BEFORE...

Image
Hey Tribe! How are you all doing today? Happy New week. This could be your Monday Morning Motivation but I had a very tiring weekend, probably the most tiring weekend in my whole 33 years of existence, and all I want to do this week is to lay in my bed and sleep *rolling my eyes*. Remember sleep used to be my day job until adulthood, and Tana and Tilda happened.  In my tired mood, all I wanted to do after church yesterday was to rest my tired self but I still had to drag myself to attend to the needs of my little humans (Tana and Tilda ) which is usually an endless one by the way.  So, I managed to fix lunch and instructed them to tidy up the house afterward.  Trust Matana (my four years old) to ask, "so what will Mummy be doing?" "Well, Mummy will be sleeping" I replied.  "Why?" she asked "Because I cannot come and go and kill myself picking up toys that I did not play with" "Ahhh! Mummy, does toys kill someone? Because I think..." &qu
