I Was Part Of A 22 Days Challenge. Here Is How It Went Down

Image
It is day 22 of the 22 days of WintererABC2021 Afrobloggers writers challenge. For 22 day Afrobloggers has given creatives an opportunity to showcase their talents and use the platform to interact with other Creatives. I tell you I've had the opportunity to meet the finest of them. Today, as the journey comes to an end. I am happy to be a part of something this big, even bigger then me.  There were times when I got tired and almost backed down but I am glad I got the courage to keep going. Special thanks to the community for standing by everyone, for sharing ideas on each week's task, and for the constant interaction with one another. On a lighter mood, I  made a compilation of the  different kinds of participants from the hall of participants. From my imagination,  for your laughing pleasure. 22 types of  participants in the 22 days WinterABC2021 challenge. *The Ready set go gang: these are the set of people who are ever ready, born ready, I mean they were born to do this.

My Fashion is “Comfortable” and “Beautiful”

Image
“Fashion is a form of self-expression and autonomy at a particular period and place in a specific context, of clothing, footwear, lifestyle, accessories, make-up, hairstyle, and body posture”. This is the universal definition of fashion. My definition of fashion is BEAUTIFUL and COMFORTABLE. It doesn't matter how much or what brand it is, so long as it looks good on me and I don't feel faint underneath (beauty is pain sometimes), then I am good to go. Fashion is beautiful but it is also expensive. It is one thing to be able to navigate your finances when you are single (or maybe not), but when you get married and the kids start coming, it becomes a race that never ends.  I have been a reckless spender and impulsive buyer and I can confidently say being a Mum has/ is shaping and curbing most of my excesses.  It is important that we not only teach our children to live right but also, live our lives as an open book that the younger generation can truly read and learn from. Sustainability In Business. Business And Tech #WinterABC2021

Hey Tribe! This could be your Monday Morning Motivation (I bet you haven't read that here for a while now). Anyways, it is week three in the Afrobloggers Community, and it's Business and Tech o clock. When you hear business the first thing that comes to mind is buying and selling but business goes beyond just trade. The Oxford dictionary defines business as “A person’s regular occupation, profession, or trade.” This means your source of income is your business, whether you are selling goods or offering services. So long as it solves a problem, meets the consumer's needs and serves its purpose.  Some people say they are not cut out for the stress of doing business so they face only the “white collar” jobs. I am one of those people.  Ok, I want to do business, like the real trade of selling and buying but again I don't. Maybe it is because of the much stress involved but tell me one completely stress-free venture. I have tried my hands in quite a few businesses from sell

Advocacy Week. The Final Rundown

TGIF Tribe, Today is the last day of Advocacy week and I trust you've been able to learn a thing or two from raising awareness for children with special needs and women dealing with abuse. I hope you've been able to learn a few things about special needs children. If you have, then it is high time you teach your children and every child around you that there are special needs just like them whom they probably haven't had an encounter with. They do not have access to learning facilities and playgrounds like other kids. If your children don't learn with children with special needs at school and have never been taught that not everyone is equal, now is the best time to explain it to them, because although they don't currently live with these children at school, they will find them in their lives for sure. In the larger society when they grow up. Now is the time to teach them care, love, and respect for these children.  And to my Dear Seme Woman,  You are awesome. If a

Advocacy For Women

“He tortured me so badly. It was so terrible that he excommunicated me from my family. Nobody must visit me, and he wasn't living with us. He already had another wife outside yet his coming once in a while was hell. He would beat me whenever he was around”. I didn't leave. I couldn't leave because of the threats. He said he would kill me or take the children away if I tried to leave him. I started praying for God to make a way for me. He left one day and never came back”

Blogging Lessons 101 From My Experience

Image
Hey Tribe! TGIF! And also the last day for the #WinterABC Creatives week.  Thank you all for being with me on this journey. We have four more weeks to go, let's keep moving. So, I've been getting a lot of feedback from the Tribe, mostly questions on how I started blogging. Here are a few lessons for you. Well, from my experience point of view. Before the idea of blogging came along, I used to randomly share stories and rants on social media. Then came the lockdown and the perfect timing. Here are a few things I've Learnt along the journey. 1. Have a message This is the most important part of starting a blog or any course whatsoever. For me, it was a vision God gave, to share stories and life experiences. Many people go through things in life, especially Christians. It's a clear call to talk about your pain without holding back.  Having a message means creating a nitch for yourself. That way, you could always go back to the plan even when you stray. 2. Create contents

My Journey. From The Beginning!

“You can choose between being a mechanic or a bricklayer (mason) since you don't want to go to school again.” “Daddy, I am a girl. I can not do such tedious work. I can only do tailor or saloon work”. “No o, that will not happen in this house. If you are bold enough to quit school because you want to be stupid, then you should be strong enough to do any task that comes your way too”. It is either mechanic, bricklayer, or nothing in this house and that is final. That was one of the many unending conversations between a father and her strong headed daughter, and this wasn't the first time. “I bind the two of you in Jesus name” And that was the voice of her ever dramatic Mummy Dearest coming in from the bedroom “There's nothing to bind here Inye Joshua (Mama Joshua), this girl has chosen her path in life and I will gladly support her course” *** I had just gotten admission into the University and that was the most horrible time for a 16 years old girl like me. *I've had wo

On Being A Creative

Image
CREATIVES I didn't know I was one until shortly after I started this blog a year ago.  Yes, you read that correctly! even with my Bachelor's Degree in Theatre and Media Arts, I never considered myself as a Creative.  Why? you may want to ask. Well, that's because I wasn't practicing and therefore didn't see the need to bestow myself with such a great title. The dictionary meaning of the word Creative is “relating to or involving the use of the imagination or original ideas to create something" and as a noun, a Creative is a “Person whose job involves creative work”. Now, are there some selected groups of people who can only be creatives? The answer to that question is NO, an emphatic NO for that matter.  The truth is God is the only source of ideas, talent, and any form of creativity you can ever think of or imagine. No one has a monopoly on talent, ideas, and creativity. The only difference between people whom you consider as creatives and those who are not is
